The photographs in Avian were taken at The Contemporary Zoological Conservatory in Toronto, a private collection of antique and contemporary taxidermy mounts. The birds are in various stages of decomposition depending on the age of the mounts and the techniques used to preserve them. The series also includes individual portraits of the birds and documentation of the dioramas that contain them. The work is installed in a stack or can be viewed as a single image.
