Canceled Paintings is part of an interconnected series of seven bodies of work entitled Provenance Unknown. This work began ten years ago with paintings found leaning in the hallways at OCAD Universy where I teach. These unclaimed canvases and stretchers had large cuts in the canvas, and were being recycled to the next group of students. For me they recalled the analog days when the photographic negative was cancelled after an edition was produced.
