Memento is a series of images of family heirlooms which incorporate a photographic element. Mementos were to be touched and reflected upon in an intimate setting – a reminder of a loved one at war or a relative who had passed. Now, years later, the subjects are often no longer identifiable, and their significance has shifted. The connection and physicality is fragile, even at risk, in an age of digital restructuring. These treasures, gathered from my female friends, have been worn and passed down through generations. Memento further explores how the role of photography has changed. Archival digital prints, 16" x 20" to 20" x 24", edition of five, 2007.
